Score 93/100 · Jeb Dunnuck, Jun 2011

Plush and suave, with loads of decadent and hedonistic fruit, the 2009 Mollydooker Two Left Feet is a mouthful of a wine that yields serious plum, cassis, smoked beef, licorice, tobacco, and asphalt aromas on the nose. This is followed by a full bodied wine that explodes on the palate with layers of velvety fruit, a seamless, silky texture, ripe fruit, and very long finish. Very complete and just downright fun and easy to drink, this will easily compete with the upper tier wines due to its solid complexity and seamless, balanced profile. The Boxer might be better in a year or two, but right now, I like this wine a smidge more.

Score 91/100 · Drink 2011-2016, Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, Wine Advocate, Dec 2010

Blended of 68% Shiraz, 18% Cabernet Sauvignon and 14% Merlot, the 2009 Two Left Feet was aged in 88% American oak and 12% French, 52% new. Very deep garnet-purple in color, it offers pronounced notes of black currant cordial, blueberry pie filling, anise, chocolate and hints of eucalyptus, vanilla and baking spices. Very full-bodied and opulently fruited, the palate is well structured with crisp acid and medium-firm, fine-grained tannins. It’s a bit taut and disjointed at the moment, possibly requiring another 12 months to marry and then drinking to 2016+. Following a challenging 2008 vintage when no Velvet Glove, Gigglepot, Blue Eyed Boy, Enchanted Path or Carnival of Love wines were made, Sparky Marquis and his inimitable Mollydooker line-up is back to firing on all cylinders in 2009. \ Importer: Bacchus Importers, Dundalk, MD; tel.
