(15.5% alcohol; 50% petite sirah, 37% cabernet sauvignon and 13% merlot, mostly from Napa Valley): Bright medium ruby. Sexy, somewhat porty aromas of dark fruits, mocha and melted chocolate. Distinctly liqueur-like in the mouth, with dark raspberry and chocolate flavors dominating, but surprising peppery acidity keeps the wine from coming off as heavy. A bit youthfully monolithic but has the energy and building tannins to support some aging.
