Score 88/100 · Drink 2022-2026, Jeb Dunnuck, Aug 2022
The 2019 The Mariner is a blend of 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot, 11% Malbec, 8% Petit Verdot, and the remainder Cabernet Franc. It was aged for 20 months in 46% new French and Hungarian oak barrels. The aromas are rich with savory herbs, game, and dried fig. The palate is full, with dusty tannins, dried blackberry, turned earth, and shitake. Drink over the next 3-4 years.

Based largely on Sauvignon Blanc, with a splash of Semillon and Muscadelle, the 2019 Meritage Blend The Mariness offers attractive green apple and green citrus notes as well as some tropical floral nuances, medium-bodied richness, and a clean finish. It's a solid, balanced, incredibly versatile white to enjoy in its youth.
