Tasting notes
Dakota Shy's 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Moulds Family Vineyard in Oak Knoll is absolutely gorgeous. Graphite, smoke, inky blue fruit, spice and lavender are beautifully delineated. The 2014 is powerful and intense, but also remarkably nuanced. Hints of violet, lavender and mint reappear to frame the super-expressive finish. This is another classy, polished Cabernet from Dakota Shy.

Less impressive than the 2013, but still very good, the 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Moulds Family Vineyard doesn’t have the concentration and profound depth of the 2013, but it is effusively fruity, offering black and red currants, spice box and Christmas fruitcake notes in a medium-bodied style. Drink it over the next 7-8 years.
The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Moulds Vineyard is deep, inky and concentrated, but as always, there is a good measure of freshness. Crème de cassis, mint, violets, lavender and blueberry jam saturate the palate as this heady, exotic Cabernet Sauvignon shows off its inviting personality.
The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon Moulds Family Vineyard is terrific. Inky and savory, in classic Moulds style, the 2014 remains vibrant and full of character. The 2014 is on the softer side, but it retains very good freshness. There is an exotic quality to the Moulds that is impossible to miss.
