Tasting notes
Stepping up in price, the 2015 Rainmaker is 89% Cabernet Sauvignon and 11% Malbec brought up in 89% new French oak. This ruby/plum-colored effort offers loads of blue fruits, incense, bouquet garni, and bay leaf characteristics. It's medium-bodied, nicely balanced, has integrated acidity, and some firm tannins that sweeten up with time in the glass. It's slightly compact and backward and will benefit from short-term cellaring.

Dark ruby-red. Wild, slightly exotic aromas of blackberry, dark raspberry, licorice, coffee and oak. A bit chunky on the palate, with the flavors of cassis, black plum and mocha carrying a full load of oak and a bit dulled by alcohol. Finishes with firm tannins and a repeating element of warmth. Plenty of material here but the wine's oak element gets in the way of its fruit. Will this go anywhere in the bottle? (14.5% alcohol)
