Tasting notes
(aged in 40% new 500-liter puncheons for 22 months): Deep, bright ruby-red. Alluring Syrah aromas of dark currant, violet, espresso and minerals. Dense, sappy and fine-grained, offering considerable early sex appeal and inner-mouth lift to its dark berry, cocoa powder and suave oak flavors. Finishes classy and long, with a touch of sweetness and very smooth tannins. This wine was fermented in big concrete cubes for the first time.

Despite its promising aromas of roasted meat, dark chocolate and plum preserve, the 2015 Syrah is firm and drying on the palate, without the mid-palate amplitude and fruit concentration to integrate its tannins.
The 2015 Syrah Blue Mountain Vineyard was also fermented in concrete and stainless steel and was aged 22 months in neutral French oak. It offers terrific notes of black raspberries, crème de cassis, vanilla bean, and spice in a full-bodied, ultra-pure, seamless, creamy, modern style. Drink it over the coming 7-8 years.
