The 2014 Clos de la Vieille Eglise is polished, refined and quite pretty. A wine of detail and nuance, it speaks to balance above all else. Sweet floral notes give notable lift to play off the dark blue and purplish stone fruit flavors. Silky tannins add to the wine's understated personality. The 2014 could use a bit more time in bottle to further assimilate the new oak, but it is very nicely done. Tasted two times.

The Clos de la Vieille Eglise 2014 has a straightforward but nicely defined, gravel-scented bouquet. The palate is medium-bodied with a slightly angular entry, crisp black cherry and wild strawberry notes gently fanning out on the finish that is supple and smooth. It is not the most complex Pomerol but there is charm here.
