Tasting notes
Glistening magenta. Expressive black raspberry, cherry, baking spice and incense qualities on the nose; a potpourri nuance builds with aeration. Silky, seamless and sweet, with juicy acidity and floral notes giving energy and lift to concentrated red fruit flavors. Finishes extremely long, with repeating spiciness and just a touch of fine-grained tannins. Two-thirds new French oak.

Coming from the Anderson Valley, the 2017 Pinot Noir Kite’s Rest is a classic wine from Mendocino with its ripe black cherry and almost blue fruits as well as its firmer, more focused, structured style on the palate. With lots of spice and violet notes, a terrific sense of minerality, solid mid-palate depth, and a great finish, it’s going to benefit from a year or two of bottle age and should evolve nicely for a decade.
