Tasting notes
The 2008 Cabernet Franc emerges from the glass with layers of blackberry jam, smoke, tar and licorice. It is a much more opulent, concentrated wine than the Cabernet Sauvignon, yet possesses striking balance and purity. Despite its richness, there is plenty of underlying structure underneath. This bold, beautiful Cabernet Franc will benefit from another year or so in bottle, but it is already pretty striking.

I was quite taken with both wines I tasted from Chappellet, the pioneer of first-class winemaking on the gorgeous hillsides of Pritchard Hill. Tel. (707) 963-7136
