Tasting notes
(made by Chris Gorman): Bright, full ruby. Pungent oaky lift to the aromas of blackberry, blueberry, cassis and licorice, plus an iron-like tobacco nuance. Plush and sweet in the mouth, offering slightly chunky dark fruit, spice and sweet oak flavors. Finishes with substantial, chewy, oak-driven tannins that turned a bit drier with aeration.

Another blockbuster, the smoking good 2013 Collaboration Series V checks in as a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from one of the finest terroirs on Red Mountain, the Ciel du Cheval Vineyard. Made by Chris Gorman and one of the more flamboyant, ripe and decadent wines in the lineup, it's loaded with black raspberry and assorted dark fruits, licorice and vanilla bean that give way to a full-bodied, concentrated, layered and perfectly balanced 2013 that has no hard edge, killer purity of fruit and a great finish. It will be hard to resist in its youth, yet I suspect evolve for 20-25 years. It's the last year this cuvee will be made, and there's a scant 200 cases. Don't miss it!
