Deep ruby. Powerful aromas of cassis, blackberry, mocha, vanilla and smoke. Lush and weighty in the mouth, offering pliant dark berry flavors and a velvety texture. Finishes with smooth tannins and good cling, repeating the fruitcake note. This polished, supple cabernet is approachable now.

The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Sonoma includes fruit from the famed Monte Rosso Vineyard. Aged in a combination of French and American oak for two years prior to being bottled unfined and unfiltered, it is an outstanding Cabernet boasting a deep ruby/purple color along with copious aromas of creme de cassis, graphite and spice box. Full-bodied with supple tannins, a generous, even corpulent mouthfeel and a long finish, it should drink well for a decade. Now that Dick Arrowood has moved on to his own estate (Amapola Creek), winemaker Heidi Veon der Menten has taken over this consistently excellent estate that was acquired by Jess Jackson several years ago. These four 2007s and 2008s were some of the last wines made by Dick Arrowood. Tel. (707) 938-5170; Fax (707) 938-5195
