Score 87/100 · Drink 1987, Robert Parker, Jan 1998
Because of low acidity, I predict a rapid evolution for the 1981 Raymond-Lafon. A glorious bouquet of spicy, vanillin oak, lemony, honeyed, pineapple fruit, and floral scents is intense and expansive. On the palate, the wine is quite fat, succulent, rich, and sweet, with high alcohol, and a soft, supple, long, clean finish. Anticipated maturity: Now. Last tasted, 3/87.
