Tasting notes
The medium ruby-colored 2008 Pinot Noir Savoia displays an ethereal perfume of cedar, spice box, rose petal, and assorted red fruits. Leaner and racier on the palate than its peers, this is an elegantly styled effort with impeccable balance and a lengthy, seamless finish. Give it 1-2 years to fill out and drink it through 2020. Ken Wright’s Pinot Noirs in 2008 are exceptional but only slightly better than his 2007s from a much more difficult vintage. Perhaps it is in the more challenging vintages that the cream really rises to the top, whereas the challenge in 2008 was to NOT make a really good wine. Tel. (503) 852-7070; www.kenwrightcellars.com

Vivid ruby. Spicy raspberry, minerals and a subtle whiff of incense on the nose. Suave in texture, with a silky quality to the redcurrant, dark cherry, mineral and floral pastille flavors. Finishes broad and seductively sweet, with a light touch and very good clarity. This is delicious now.
