An excellent 1990, feels welcoming, with grip and character, full of life. The now melted, finessed tannins are deliciously supple, the colour beginning to brick around the edges, fruits softened to autumnal blackberry and bilberry, with smoked earth and turmeric. Exeptional quality, shows just how Bordeaux can surprise in its ability to power through the decades, as this is tertiary but absolutely still delivering. 20% new oak. Second vintage with Eric Tourbier as technical director across Mouton, Armailhac and Clerc Milon.

Not as concentrated, opulent, and velvety as the 1989, the 1990 is still a sexy and smooth wine, with a fragrant nose of cassis, smoke, vanillin, roasted nuts, and exotic scents. This luscious wine, with a creamy texture and excellent color, falls off on the palate, much like its siblings, D'Armailhac and Mouton-Rothschild. It should offer delicious drinking for another 8-10 years.
