2005 Jaffurs Syrah Upslope

Dense ruby. Powerfully scented nose offers sexy cassis, mulberry, roasted meat, violet and graphite scents that strongly suggest the northern Rhone. Broad and concentrated but fresh too, with energetic dark berry preserve flavors, silky tannins and suave oak spices building through the finish. Became chewier with air but maintained sweetness and pliancy. This packs a serious flavor punch but is also impressively balanced and pure.
