Score 89-91/100 · Drink 2001-2009, Pierre Rovani, Jun 2001
The medium to dark ruby-colored 1999 Grands-Echezeaux has sweet raspberry and toasted oak aromas. It is an expansive wine with lush layers of black cherries, raspberries, and strawberries that lead to a firm yet long and somewhat satiny finish. Anticipated maturity: now-2009. Importer: Frederick Wildman & Sons, New York, NY; tel. (212) 355-0700.

Moderately saturated medium ruby. Aromas of cherry and raspberry liqueur. Sweet, supple and voluminous; quite fat in the middle but a bit green, even astringent on the back end. Not a great showing today for this grand cru.
