Tasting notes
Spitz. Just west of Spitz. Facing west and south-east. Paragneiss soils. A big vineyard of two halves. Screwcap closure. RS 1.5 g/l, TA 6.7 g/l. Certified sustainable. Deep, golden and yet fresh and light on its feet. Bright, taut and a little bit salty on the long finish. Nicely chewy texture adds length. Needs time. (JH)

The 2024 Riesling Setzberg Smaragd, saved from the frost by candles, is grown on gneiss. Gorgeous flintiness gives an exciting spin to the nose, uniting lemon and tangerine with the subtle scent of nettle. The palate presents these same notes, adding crackle, verve and citric joy to the strait-laced wine, which still shimmers with yeast. Totally mouthwatering.
