An exceptional bargain. The 1990 Vacqueyras, which I have tasted three times in the last month, continues to go from strength to strength. Its huge, ripe nose of black-raspberry fruit and roasted nuts is dazzling. In the mouth, there is immense body, gobs of chewy, intense flavors, moderate tannins, and a voluptuous, explosively long finish. Do not wait for the rest of the world to discover this Rayas look-alike as the price can only go up. It will benefit from another 1-2 years of cellaring and should easily last for 10-20 years.
