Tasting notes
88-year-old vines. Predominantly Zinfandel with a small proportion of Early Burgundy (Abouriou), Petite Sirah, Carignan, Grand Noir, Tempranillo, Refosco, Alicante and Golden Chasselas. The only vineyard within the Napa city boundary. 25% new French oak barrels. Really interesting wine – complex. And remarkably fresh. A success. (JR)

The 2022 Zinfandel Aldo's Vineyard is a bigger, richer wine. Plums, iron, chocolatey herbs, and smoky, meaty nuances all define the aromatics, and it hits the palate with full-bodied richness and a broad, layered, expansive mouthfeel. It's certainly a singular, exotic Zinfandel that should have 7-8 years of longevity.
Planted in 1937. Estate-grown. Medium verging on deep purple in colour. Bramble and blue fruit with yogurt and dried herbs – not as purely fruity as most of the other Biale Zins. Fresh mouth-watering acidity and lightly bitter, fine-grained tannin structure. Sweet vanilla and cacao on the round and warming finish. Long and concentrated. (SCJ)
