Score 94/100 · Drink 2015-2028, Jay S Miller, Wine Advocate, May 2011
The 2008 Antonino Izquierdo is a selection of the best barrels in the cellar given the so-called 200% new oak treatment. Barely over 400 cases are produced. A glass-coating opaque purple color, it gives up a brooding bouquet of spicy black fruits, exotic spices, lavender, and toasty new oak. Firm, dense, and layered on the palate, it will benefit from 4-5 years of cellaring. With outstanding volume, impeccable balance, and exceptional length, it should drink nicely through its 20th birthday if not considerably longer. Bodegas Izquierdo is one of the finer producers in the prestigious DO of Ribera del Duero. Importer: Felipe Alvarez, Majuelos de Espana, www.majuelos.com
