Score 88/100 · Drink 2019-2028, Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, Wine Advocate, Jan 2019
Blended of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon and 18% Merlot, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain is deep garnet-purple colored and scented of black plums, black cherries, mulberries and fertile soil with a hint of cigars. Medium to full-bodied, firm and chewy, it gives a good amount of plummy fruit with an herbal lift on the finish.

Tasted as a barrel sample, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain is another pure, elegant, classic wine from this estate. Blueberries, tobacco leaf, forest floor and underbrush notes all emerge from this medium to full-bodied beauty that has ripe tannin, notable freshness, and again, awesome purity of fruit.
