Extroverted and powerful to the core, the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon impresses for its balance. There is plenty of energy and overall structure to balance the intense, rich fruit. Dark red and black cherries, plums, smoke, tobacco and spice notes wrap around the palate. The 2012 is powerful and resonant, with a touch of added gravitas from the Petit Verdot in the blend. Drink this appealing, sumptuous Cabernet Sauvignon over the next 10-15 years.
The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate, nearly all Cabernet Sauvignon blended with a dollop of Petit Verdot, reveals pure crème de cassis, chocolate, espresso and a touch of new barrique. It was aged 20 months in 75% new French oak, and 1,500 cases were produced. With sweet tannin, a delicious, elegant suppleness, and a medium to full-bodied mouthfeel, it can be enjoyed over the next 10-15 years.
Gemstone's 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon is round, juicy and expressive. A wine first and foremost of volume, the 2012 impresses for its juiciness and generosity, both typical of the vintage. Dark red berries, mint, cinnamon and French oak are all layered into the close. The 2012 is dense and powerful, but also a bit raw and understandably not fully formed at this stage.
