Tasting notes
Bright ruby-red. Sexy aromas of raspberry preserves, potpourri, star anise and minerals. Lively and precise on the palate, offering sappy red fruit flavors and exotic floral pastille and gingerbread nuances. This very fresh pinot finishes with strong thrust; fine-grained tannins add shape and structure. This will age well on its balance.

The 2008 Pinot Noir Dundee Hills was aged for 10 months in 20% new French oak. Medium ruby in color with an enticing nose of rose petal and red fruits, on the palate it is medium-bodied, savory, and tasty in a straightforward style. This spicy offering will provide enjoyment over the next 6-8 years. The De Ponte Cellars property was purchased by the Baldwin family in 1999 and their first vintage was 2001. There are currently 17 acres planted to an assortment of clones. The wine is made by the talented Isabelle Dutartre. Tel. (503) 864-3698; www.depontecellars.com
