(15.8% alcohol) Bright, dark red. Aromas of roasted dark berries, raspberry liqueur and pepper; reminded me of California zinfandel of the good old days. Superripe, liqueur-like flavors of boysenberry, blueberry and licorice. Thick and supple, with a suggestion of some residual sugar, but supported by strong acids. Finishes big, broad and sweet. Based on this and the 2000 version, this may well be the best zinfandel being made outside California.
