Tasting notes
The 2012 Syrah Purisima Mountain Vineyard is a dark, meaty wine. Black cherry, mocha, plum, smoke, violets, new leather and tobacco are some of the many notes that meld together in this rich, resonant Syrah from Steve Beckmen. Voluptuous and intense, the 2012 can be enjoyed now, although it will be even better in another year or so. The 2012 was aged in 100% French oak barrels, 35% new.

The 2012 Syrah Purisima Mountain Vineyard is a soft, supple and forward effort that dishes out rocking black raspberry, cassis, licorice, white pepper and hints of gaminess on the nose. All Syrah, completely destemmed, and aged in 40% new French oak, enjoy this medium to full-bodied, sexy effort over the coming 4-5 years. This was a superb lineup from the team at Beckmen, and across the board these wines showed an uncommon level of polish and finesse. They’re hard to resist now, yet should evolve gracefully on their balance and purity. www.beckmenvineyards.com
