Tasting notes
From silex soil. Typically restrained nose with a hint of passion fruit and a definite smoky hint. That comes through on the palate too, alongside more prominent lemon fruit. Medium body, high acid, moderate length. This is Sancerre in a softly spoken voice, but with definite sense of place. (RH)

The 2020 Sancerre Chateau de Fontaine Audon Sancerre Terroir Silex is a wine of focus and direction. It starts off rather succulent on entry, but don't be fooled by your first impression; this is all about tension and grip, as you'll quickly find out. Blame the silex, a.k.a. flint, which tends to give wines with such a texture. Modest in length, offering pear, apple and citrus fruit. Greater depth of fruit and length would elevate this wine.
