Tasting notes
The 2020 Chardonnay Vanguard is another thrilling Chardonnay from Matt Dees and Drew Pickering. Utterly classic notes of white flowers, golden fruits, honeysuckle, and orange blossom give way to a medium to full-bodied, textured, balanced Chardonnay. Probably my favorite in the lineup in 2020, it already offers incredible pleasure yet, like the single vineyards, I have no doubt it will still be drinking brilliantly in a decade.

The 2020 Chardonnay Vanguard is the most complete wine in this range of Chardonnays from The Hilt. A Chardonnay of dimension and presence, the Vanguard has it all. Ripe orchard fruit, marzipan and light tropical notes are all woven together in a Chardonnay of tremendous eloquence. The 100% new oak is not evident at all. What a wine!
