A very good effort from Lamarque, their 2005 displays copious black cherry and blackcurrant, cedar wood and underbrush notes, a good, juicy sweetness to the tannins, medium body, fine purity, and a lush, heady finish. This wine has achieved full maturity but should continue to drink well for at least another 7-8 years.

Riper than some of the Haut-Médocs tasted but not very rich, with a sweet vanilla edge to the oaky spice. Rounded, quite modern, a little pinched at the end. (JH)

Slightly grey crimson. Simple nose and rather green. Ordinary. (JR)
