The 2019 La Fleur de Gay has a crisp blackberry and raspberry-scented bouquet, well-defined with a touch of truffle. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, a little tinny at the back end and with a little attenuation too. The bottle from last year tasted better, so perhaps this is an errant example? Tasted blind at the Southwold annual tasting.

Tasted blind. Dark brownish ruby. Just the right side of volatile. A bit sharp on the palate though, so far from a perfect Pomerol. (JR)
The 2019 Château La Fleur De Gay showed well, with perfumed red and black fruits as well as notes of baking spices, dried herbs, and chocolate. Nicely textured, medium-bodied, balanced, and elegant, it's another impeccably made Pomerol in the vintage. Drink bottles over the coming 10-15 years.
Sumptuous and polished, the 2019 La Fleur de Gay bursts with aromas of blackberry preserve, loamy soil, mocha and toasty oak. Full-bodied, broad and dramatic, it's a rich, low-acid Pomerol with a sweet core of fruit, powdery tannins and an expansive, somewhat heady finish. It will be at its best young.
