Tasting notes
Deep red with ruby highlights. Sappy, fruit-driven aromas of redcurrant, raspberry, blueberry and spicy, smoky French oak. Sweet and nicely concentrated, with harmonious acids giving the flavors a racy firmness. A wine of good but not outstanding texture and depth. Slightly aggressive in its youthfulness, but finishes with rather suave tannins. This new-wave Rioja came as a distinct shock directly following my visits to traditionalists La Rioja Alta and López de Heredia on my first morning in the region.
