Grilled apricots and lime zest, rich without being heavy, luscious and so good, a clear sign that there are bright spots in the 2024 vintage - and many of them belong to the dry and sweet whites of the region. Great stuff from Fabrice and Jean-Jacques Dubourdieu. 15 hl/ha yield.

The 2024 Doisy-Daëne is a little more backward on the nose than expected, with finely delineated peach skin, beeswax and wild honey scents emerging with time. The palate is well balanced with a very peachy opening, then apricot and quince join the chorus line. As usual, the acidic thread keeps this Barsac on its toes and there is real intensity and sustain on the finish that leaves you wanting more. Bravo.

Flowers, orange, vanilla, honey topped apricots, oranges, and toast aromatics come out in the perfume. On the palate, the wine quickly focuses you on its energetic, racy, candied, yellow citrus, with hints of roasted oranges that show up on the backend of the finish.

Soft burnished gold in colour, a little more reserved on the nose and first attack than the classic Blanc Sec from the estate. This grows slowly as opposed to bursting out of the glass, and instead is full of quiet energy and tension, pumice stone texture, white tea and chamomile flavours along with preserved citrus and spiced peaches. The second vintage of this wine, from the oldest Sémillon on the property, and it's brilliant. Highly recommended. 100% fermented and aged in barrel. Only 1,200 bottles.

Doisy Daene

This Second Growth estate has origins dating back to the late 1800s. It is, however, under the ownership of the Dubourdieu family – who took over the Barsac property in 1924 – that Ch. Doisy-Daëne truly flourished.
