Tasting notes
The 2022 Frank Phelan is based on 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon that was brought up 14 months in nearly all in once-used barrels. Black cherries, red plums, smoked tobacco, and graphite all define the aromatics, and it's medium to full-bodied, has a layered, ripe mouthfeel, and a great finish.

The 2022 Frank Phélan, composed of 80% Merlot due to a June hailstorm that damaged some Cabernet, presents an elegant bouquet with brambly red fruit, pencil lead and Margaux-like floral scents. The medium-bodied palate offers sapid dark berry fruit and a soft texture, making it easy-drinking with a lightly peppered, graphite-tinged finish. Fine.
