Where's the nose? Is this still too young or just going through a dumb phase? Either way, there's no hint of the grandeur of the appellation. The palate is kinder – the classic toasted-nut finish lingering on and on. Smoke, iodine, cheese, ripe red apples and a shining flinty tone too. At this stage still very tight, and the phenomenal length is the only real indicator of the excellence to come. Needs time. (RH)
