Score 91/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, May 2011
Light, bright red. Musky redcurrant, raspberry, herbs and dried rose on the understated nose. Silky in texture, with bright, nicely concentrated red fruit and mineral flavors complicated by a spicy element. Shows admirable finesse and little of the 40% new oak in which it was raised. Finishes sappy and vibrant. Jason Kesner is the assistant winemaker at Kistler and before that he managed the renowned Hudson Vineyards.
