Tasting notes
Inky dark color. Fragrant aromas of bitter cherry, licorice and cocoa powder, lifted by violet perfume. Very ripe (this is 15.1% alcohol) but nicely focused, with tangy blueberry and cassis flavors framed by fresh acids. Finishes spicy, sweet and long, with very fine tannins.

The deep ruby/purple-tinged 2003 Gigondas Cuvee Traditionelle exhibits aromas of raspberries and crushed stones as well as elegant, medium-bodied flavors, not much depth, but admirable finesse and precision. Drink it over the next 5-6 years. Importers: David Hinkle, North Berkeley Imports, Berkeley, CA; tel. (510) 848-8910; Michael Skurnik, Syosset NY; tel.
