Score 95/100 · Drink 2028-2050, Anne Krebiehl MW, Vinous, Apr 2023

The nose of the 2020 Pinot Noir Les Saintes Claires is still shy, there are just a few glimpses of dark peony and cherry. The palate immediately comes in with serene acidity, watering the mouth, amidst darker forest fruit. The tannins are fine, dense and coating. The lasting finish is salty, cool and utterly fresh. The 2020 Pinot Noir Les Saintes Claires is harvested in a parcel on the hillside between Altenbourg and Grand Cru Mambourg, just below Grand Cru Furstentum, on limestone, formerly owned by a convent of Clarisse-Capuchin sisters. More than 50% whole bunches were used, it spent 18 months in 50% new oak, the rest in one-year-old barrique. (Bone-dry)
