Score 92/100 · Drink 2017-2022, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Dec 2016
The 2014 Petite Sirah Stags Leap Ranch is deep, inky and richly textured, but also quite accessible because of its relatively soft tannins. Lavender, violet, mint and crème de cassis are laced into the sensual, inky finish.

The 2014 Petite Sirah comes from a vineyard considered one of the finest in all of California for this variety. Made with the consultancy of Aaron Pott, this inky blue/purple wine has phenomenal intensity, a massive mouthfeel, relatively high tannins, but extraordinary purity of blue and blackberry fruit, white flowers and forest floor. There is a touch of pepper as well. This is set for a life of 40-50 years and I wouldn’t touch it for at least 5-6.
