Difficult vintage because they lost a lot of grapes in a storm. 30%. Yields were down to 22 hl/ha, usually 30 hl/ha. RS 5 g/l, TA 4.3 g/l. Beautiful brûlée nose. Grilled peach. Despite the residual sugar and the sweet-fruited nose, it tastes very dry, a little austere. Has long, geometric, angular lines (the acidity tastes a lot higher than 4.3 g/l!). Crisp apples, really tangy, smoky. The fruit is tight and precise and crunchingly, mouth-wateringly fresh and juicy. Next to the Josmeyer Brand 2010, it tastes savoury and very young. (TC)

Very pale straw. Perfumed and reminiscent of a Grosses Gewächs on the nose. Quite rich and dense on the palate. Somehow cool and restrained with a slightly bitter note on the end. (JR)
An intense citrus color dresses the 2013 Riesling Brand Grand Cru, which offers a deep and intense aroma of super ripe citrus aromas along with mineral flavors that reflect the steep, south-facing granite site very well. On the palate, the wine has much more freshness, finesse and purity than expected from the nose, and seems to be a flowing mountain range with a lemon taste and Mediterranean herbs in the aftertaste. This is a very persistent, salty and impressive wine for the next 15 or more years. A little bit of bottle age may help, but seems not really necessary at least at the moment of tasting in July 2015.
