The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon The Bully comes from Red Mountain and emanates with a rocky minerality and aromas of cherry and plum skin. Full-bodied, the palate is ripe with a firm tannic grip and mineral tension, showing a balanced structure before lingering on to a dusty, red-fruited finish. Only 800 cases made.

Bright full ruby. Brooding, rather clenched nose combines cassis, black raspberry, clove, licorice and menthol. A penetrating, lively wine with a very fine-grained texture and good depth but still tightly wound. Finishes with juicy dark berry, licorice, violet and bitter chocolate notes, essentially pliant tannins and sneaky rising length. This Cabernet needs time to unwind but should evolve gracefully and last well. (15.2%)
The 2016 The Bully (95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot) comes all from Red Mountain and was aged 22 months in new French oak. Thrilling notes of crème de cassis, crushed violets, rising bread, and graphite all flow to a medium to full-bodied, nicely textured Cabernet that has plenty of tannins, some lifted acidity (which makes the tannins firmer), and good length. It's not a long-term ager but will benefit from 1-2 years of bottle age, then should be drunk over the following 7-8.
