The 2016 Haut Maurac feels overdone on the nose, perhaps suffering an excessive maceration? The palate is stalky and green on the entry, and it jars with the sweet finish. Based on this showing, I wonder just how it has been classified a Cru Bourgeois? Tasted at the Cru Bourgeois tasting in London.

60% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. Mid to deep crimson. Unusual nose – a little bit herbal but sweet too. Well-integrated fruit and tannins and fresh on the finish. If this RRP is correct, it’s GV . Both dry and juicy on the finish. (JH)
