Tasting notes
Deep ruby-red. Sweet black cherry and licorice aromas are a bit compressed today, showing less perfume than the young-vines bottling; very ripe hints of cocoa and prune. Then fat, sweet and superripe in the mouth but a bit youthfully monolithic and backward. Here the huge tannins are a bit sweeter than those of the '08 La Villa.

The 2007 Barolo La Villa is a beautiful, subtle wine. Dark wild cherries, plums, tobacco, licorice and smoke are some of the nuances that emerge from the glass. The wine shows gorgeous richness and concentration, yet never comes across as heavy. A textured, vivid finish provides the last impressions of this fine, highly pleasing Barolo.
