Tasting notes
The 2001 Conde de la Salceda Reserva, made from a blend of 95% Tempranillo and 5% Graciano, was aged for 18 months in French barriques. It is dark ruby/purple in color with black fruit, floral, and spice notes on the nose. This modern-styled Rioja is medium-bodied with sweet tannin, has excellent ripeness and purity, and a long finish. Give it 2-4 years to develop and drink it over the following decade. Ruby-red. Pungent, enticing bouquet of ripe cherry, cassis, plum, vanillin oak and baking spices. A supple, deep midweight with rich, spicy red and dark fruit flavors and well-knit tannins. Exotic notes of fresh flowers and mocha come up on the sweet, long finish.
