Score 92/100 · Drink 2005-2017, Daniel Thomases, Wine Advocate, Apr 2004

The 2001 Poggio ai Chiari is a hymn to Sangiovese in its plum and licorice nose, with ample notes of mint and toasted coffee, and its firm and focused flavors, muscular yet graceful, polished in texture and with a richly fruity, velvety finish. Drink: 2005-2017. Fabio Cenni, a long-time friend of Montalcino’s Giulio Salvioni and one of the most likeable people on the current scene in Tuscany, has managed the unlikely feat of creating an important wine in an unknown viticultural area and doing so with only native grapes.
