Score 93/100 · Drink 2018-2040, Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, Wine Advocate, Aug 2018

Very deep garnet-purple colored, the 2007 Claret Diamond Mtn exudes wonderfully youthful crushed black plums, blackberries and wild blueberries notes with nuances of Christmas cake, Indian spices, licorice and roasted nuts. Concentrated and full-bodied, the palate is packed with taut, muscular and incredibly spritely fruit, framed with ripe, grainy tannins and just enough freshness, finishing with lingering exotic spice notes.

Aromatic nose combines dark berries, violet and licorice, lifted by peppery herbs. Not a fat style but juicy and perfumed in the mouth, and a bit firmer than the 2006. The ripe raspberry fruit offers very good lift. Solidly tannic but rather suave wine with an energetic aftertaste.
