Tasting notes
Good ruby-red. Blackcurrant, licorice, mocha and cocoa powder on the nose and palate, accented by violet and lead pencil. Plush and full but with a lovely light touch and mouthfilling perfume. A bit less pliant than the To Kalon wines, and less obviously sweet owing to its medicinal reserve. Finishes with substantial dusty tannins that call for at least three or four years of patience. All of these 2010 cabs show well-managed sweet oak.

The estate's 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Stagecoach is incredibly intense and exotic. Grilled herbs, mocha and espresso notes all come to life as this full-bodied, intensely tannic wine shows off its considerable potential. Tar, smoke and incense wrap around the huge finish. The search for intensity of fruit marries very nicely with this site.

The estate’s Cabernets are rich and full-bodied, yet also express plenty of site-specific character. Tel. (707) 302-1124
