Score 89/100 · Drink 2006, Robert Parker, Jun 1999

When Zinfandels from this source were made by Turley Cellars', they always possessed a distinctive southern Rhone, Chateauneuf du Pape-like character. Now made by Caldwell Cellars, this 1997 Zinfandel Aida Vineyard retains the unmistakable pepper, spice, dried Provencal herb, meaty, garrigue (a melange of earth and herb scents) character that is found in southern Rhone wines. This rich, medium to full-bodied, spicy, cherry liqueur-flavored offering is hedonistic and luscious. I would opt for drinking it over the next 5-6 years. Tel. (707) 255-1294; Fax (707) 255-5162
