Tasting notes
The 2015 Syrah Coastview Vineyard Terraces is an intriguing wine with many layers of nuance. Savory herb, spice and black pepper notes bring out the gamier, more rustic side of Syrah nicely. It will be interesting to see if a veil of reduction dissipates with time in bottle.

Slightly darker colored than the straight Coastview Vineyard Syrah, the 2015 Syrah Coastview Vineyard Terraces spent 21 months in 31% new French oak. Blackberries, black cherries, scorched earth, and charred meat notes all emerge from this solid effort, which has a masculine, mineral-laced, almost granitic style on the palate. It has the purity to drink nicely today but will be better with short-term cellaring and will have 10-12 years or more of overall longevity.
The 2015 Syrah Coastview Vineyard - Terraces emerges from a terraced portion of the vineyard planted with three Alban Syrah clones. Massively concentrated, the 2015 is not especially well balanced. Today, the impression is of a mid-weight wine that does not have the structural breadth to handle the expansiveness of the fruit
