Tasting Notes
A brilliant white based on 80% Sauvignon and 20% Semillon, aged in 70% new oak and 30% wooden vats, the 2024 Château Larrivet Haut-Brion Blanc shows stone fruits, tons of classy matchstick-like reduction, and integrated oak. Medium-bodied, pure, and layered on the palate, it offers beautiful concentration and impressive length.

This is excellent and rather different. Peach and nectarine, a hint of wild strawberry, wild spring hedgerow flowers, fennel tops, freshly cut grass and a hint of exoticism – guava and passionfruit, passionflower too. Freshly grated ginger. But also a distinct oak smoke note. Intense, lifted and aerial and very vertical in its mouthfeel, with a lovely grip from the trace of tannin as an undertone. I like this a lot.
Notes of struck flint and elderflower lead to a core of pineapples and green mango with a waft of cedar. The light-bodied palate is crisp and pure with great intensity and a long steely finish.
Unfurling in the glass with a gently reductive bouquet of smoke, white flowers, citrus and oak, the 2024 Larrivet Haut-Brion Blanc is medium-bodied, supple and juicy with a sappy attack and a long, elegant finish despite some clove notes in the aftertaste.
