Including more Cabernet Franc than normal, the 2024 Château La Prade is 65% Merlot and 35% Cabernet Franc from a plateau of pure limestone soils. Black raspberries, sappy flowers, green herbs, and cedar nuances all shine on the nose, and it's medium-bodied on the palate, with a pure, focused, elegant mouthfeel, some obvious minerality, ripe, polished tannins, and outstanding length.
Evoking aromas of dark berries, iris, dark chocolate and spices, the 2024 La Prade possesses a medium-bodied, lively and juicy palate with a good chassis of tannins and a spicy, somewhat brooding finish. This is a blend of 65% Merlot and 35% Cabernet Franc, a notably high proportion of the latter for this estate.
About the producer

Nicolas Thienpont purchased this estate in the Francs Côtes de Bordeaux in 2000. The seven hectares of vines average 40 years in age, divided between 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc, sitting partly on the limestone plateau in the village Saint-Cibard.
