Tasting notes
Solid stuff, the 2024 Château Grand Corbin has a healthy deeper purple hue as well as impressive aromatics of ripe red and black berries, loamy earth, graphite, and cedar pencil. It's nicely textured, medium-bodied, has integrated tannins and acidity, and outstanding length. It's very much in the style of the vintage yet brings solid ripeness and length.

Black fruit on the opening, cassis and bilberry with higher acidity blueberries and redcurrant. Grilled sandalwood oak is fairly dominant, emphasising the austerity of the vintage but this has balance and potential to soften over ageing. Potential upscore in bottle. Lauren Canu estate director.
The 2024 Grand Corbin has a touch of reduction on the nose, although there is decent blackberry, raspberry and wisely judged oak here. The palate is medium-bodied with a slightly lactic entry. It's quite smooth, but this lacks some complexity and personality on the finish.
86% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc, 2% Cabernet Sauvignon. Cask sample. Red-fruit and spice aromas. Some dilution on the mid palate, the oak imposing, the finish drying. (JL)
